Fences are an app that allows you to organize your desktop icons into categories to un-clutter your workspace. The latest version, Fences 2.01, adds new features to help you get and stay organized even faster. The interface of the newer version is much like before. The fences look the same they're clean and blend well, and you can adjust the transparency and colour to suit your needs. You'll also still be able to easily sort your files and program icons into multiple fences on your desktop. One of our favourite features, Auto-Organizer, also lets you choose which files will automatically go into the fence you specify this is handy if you frequently add new files to your computer.
The new Fences 2.01 features will now keep frequently used folders visible and organized on the desktop by populating a fence with files from any folder. Customization options direct Fences to automatically place new icons in designated fenced areas. Additionally, a double click can hide or un hide all fence revealing an unobstructed view of the desktop.
New & Improved in Fences version 2.01:
1. Customize the look and color of your fences.
2. Desktop Pages, Multiple pages of Fences accessed via mouse swipe.
3. Folder Portals, View & organize the contents of any folder as a fence on your desktop.
4. Create shaded areas called "fences" on your desktop in which you can place and organize icons.
5. Double-click blank space on your desktop all of your icons will fade out. Double-click again & they will return.
6. When a new icon gets added, from an installer for instance, it will be automatically added to your preferred "fence".
The new features seem small, but they can be really handy. By holding Alt and dragging a folder to your desktop, you can create a new fence with the contents of that folder laid out perfect for folders you need to access often, don't want on desktop. You can create multiple pages of fences, swiping b/w them by clicking the edge of the screen swiping away.
Create Fences:
Once installed, you can create Fences on your desktop to hold your desktop files. You can create a new fence by holding down the right mouse button and drawing a rectangle on your desktop. Fences will pop up a “Create new fence here” context menu. Use that menu to create a new fence.

Right-click on any of the existing fences and you’ll see a context menu popup. Click on the “Rename Fence…” option to rename fences. Use the “Delete Fence” option to remove fences.
